About Me

Well.
Hello.

The name is Melinda, but I am mostly known as Mel or Mom.
Ocassionally I’m known as the person with blue and purple hair who sits at the front of classes. True story.

I live in Gatineau, Quebec Canada with my two younger hatchlings, husband and two cats. My eldest decided to stay in the States with his father when I moved back to Canada from North Carolina.

We have two cats, Hermione and Asimov.
The hatchlings are trying to convince me that we need a hamster or a bird. I am not keen on the idea.

Currently, I am working towards my Honours Bachelors degree of Environmental Studies with a minor in Geography at the University of Ottawa. I am also enrolled in the co-op program. I would love to pursue a masters and/or PhD in Environmental Sustainability — but I have to make it through my undergrad first. I am entering my fourth year of studies, but I am taking the co-op option, so it’s taking me a bit longer.

I’ve been told that in the blogging world, you need to find a niche.
I really don’t fit into the conventional ones that I can think of.
I’m past the cloth diapering, breastfeeding and baby stages.
I have a preschooler, tween, and teen.
I want to write about more than just climate change and environmental issues. I don’t feel like I fit in with the traditional student, parent, or wife demographic. Fashion and entertainment are just lost on me. I would seriously be happy wearing bell bottoms and graphic tees all-day, every-day.

So…
Stick around to hear about all of those things I’ve listed, plus more subjects as the mood strikes — except for the latest on fashion and entertainment.
